Louis Garb of Jerusalem is qualified to practice in Israel, South Africa and Botswana. In addition he is a Jurisconsulte for Monaco and has received official recognition from the English Law Association as an expert practitioner in the field of private international law. He is a member of the AEA and the IJLAJ.

His practice is in the field of private international law, in particular inheritance law.

In addition to professional articles and chapters, his books include:

• A new work on Force Majeure covering fifty jurisdictions( together with Julian Copeman and Richard Mendoza of Herbert Smith) will be published by Brill towards the end of 2025.
• International Succession (together with Richard Norridge of Herbert Smith  (Oxford University Press, 2010). This work covering more than fifty jurisdictions has been widely praised. The latest edition was published in 2022.
• International Kidnapping (Brill, Holland 2008).
• International Succession (Kluwer Law International, 1998).
• Enforcement of Foreign Judgments (Kluwer Law International 1995). This book is now in its seventieth update and covers more than eighty jurisdictions throughout the world.  It has received wide critical approval and is the leading work in the field.
• The volume on Insurance in the South African Encyclopedia of Forms and Precedents ( Butterworths 1972)

His practice in recent years has been devoted solely to private international law, representing Israeli clients overseas and foreign clients in Israel.  He has acted in litigation and arbitration throughout the world, in particular Australia, Botswana, England, Israel, Italy, Lichtenstein, Monaco, South Africa, Sweden and the United States.  He has personally argued complicated arbitration cases in Germany and Sweden. Beyond direct representation, he has been invited to give expert opinions, serve as an expert witness, and lecture on topics of international private law in Israel and abroad.

Today the emphasis of Garb’s practice is international succession where his very broad exposure gives him a unique perspective allowing him to leverage effective outcomes for his clients.
